Welcome to the website of the Society for Court Studies in Germany!

We are a group of people (historians, cultural historians, art-historians at Universities and Museums as well as scholars of literature), who are interested in all kinds of Court History in a broad sense. We are affiliated with the Society for Court Studies in London and share similar goals, such as:

- the promotion of interdisciplinary and trans-epochal research of courts in various geographic and cultural contexts

- regular conferences and workshops in varying locations

- the publication of conference proceedings and other specialised literature

Membership and Conferences are open to everyone who likes to join. Our official launch conference will be 'Animals at Court', to be held in Munich in December 2016, details on this page. We invite you to contact us for further information and also to share your own ideas and comments whilst we found a society we hope many will want to be part of. Currently, the society is organized as "Arbeitskreis".

We look forward to hearing from you!

Best wishes,

Nichola Hayton, Mark Hengerer, Susan Richter and Annette Cremer
